Bridal teaparty

It’s been a long time since I last blogged!

A while back I planned a bridal tea party for my bridesmaid and my sister.

That’s a picture of me having so much fun!

To prepare for this party I made bridesmaids binders for each girl, each personalized and detailed on everything they should know. I ordered bridesmaid tee shirts. Then my made of honor and I made wedding themed cookies. We placed all these goodies in a gift bag and each girl got one at the end of the tea party. There were two missing so I mailed them a box with tea bags and the gifts the other girls received.

The finished product! 20131006-172217.jpg

The tea party was at Veronica’s doll house, which is an amazing place that hosts tea party’s. It’s really cute and inside is made to look like a doll house.

To start the tea party we all were able to choose these beautiful hats that helped us get in to character. There were party games and yummy tea sandwiches.

I love my bridesmaids and can’t wait for the big day!

Who needs a wedding planning book anyway?

My last post was a review of a wedding planning book. Honestly, I own 3 different kinds. Additionally, I plan using the knot and wedding wire  (both are great websites) however, I find that these books and websites don’t have exactly what I want. Its like I am constantly switching between sites, pages etc. I am a planning whore, I abuse Siri, I simultaneously use my iPad, iphone and mac to plan, I have a desk calendar,  a wall calendar and a hello kitty school planner. To top it off I have a million post it notes!! I know I have a problem….

Being frustrated with my wedding planning books I decided to make my own, this way I will have exactly what I wanted! Genius!! I started googling templates that I could use when I stumbled across a perfect! I mean AMAZING google doc! It had everything and it was customizable! I could make edits and save it on my google drive and I could even share the pages, and I could have other people edit it as well! It was like I found gold!!!

Here is the link to the google doc–>

Just click download template and you are GOLDEN

Trust me, if you are looking for a wedding planner this is the way to go.

Will you be my bridesmaids?

My best friends are my backbone. Each one has their purpose. I’ve been friends with each for a long time. So I wanted this to be special and unique.

For this project I went to my local dollar store= dollar tree. Inside the box was an invitation to my bridal tea party and a ring pop.

Danielle- she is my sidekick, we do everything together. She came over my house on a Sunday to go to the gym. We drove my car to the gym and my sister filled her car with balloons. When we got back I surprised her!

Melissa- she is my relationship therapist. For her I surprised her with balloons at work.

Milla- she is my go to girl. For her, I had a friend take her out while I filled her room with balloons!

Mikie- she is my oldest and best friend. she was out of town so I shipped her proposal to her

Mimi- she is my oldest sister. For her I asked her w a cookie 🙂

I’m so excited for this wedding and I am so happy that I will have my best friends besides me.

Something for the girls-bridesmaids book

OMG my wedding is 8 months away, and I have Absolutely nothing! Crunch time! Currently I am making appointments with vendors, but to kick things of I decided to ask each of my girls in a special unique way. And each was invited to the bridal tea party. So first task was making the bridesmaids books that they were getting as a part of their gifts 🙂

I went to target

And picked up some cute polka dot binders! When I saw them in the aisle. It was love at first sight! To go with the binders I got pretty paper, tabs, pens and post it notes.

I created the following tabs:

Calendar: I printed a Calendar for all the months leading to the big day
Contacts: Here I had a sheet with important vendor numbers, party member numbers and parent information
Duties: This page was customized to each girls title, such as maid of honor or bridesmaid
Checklist: Was a timeline and a list of all the things they needed to do (and again this was customized by title)
Your task: Was left blank. Here the girls could write their own tasks.
I promise: Here I wrote a sentimental letter and a pelage to the girls, basically that I would not be a bridezilla.
The Big Day: Right now that page is empty. But as I finalize information I will let the girls know.

If anyone wants templates to these documents, please comment below and I will put them up in a post!

Healthy mac and cheese

What’s for dinner? Today I decided to make a healthy Mac and cheese. Even on the best diet one wants some comfort food! This recipe was adapted from cooking light magazine.

2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 garlic clove, minced
2 cups 1% low-fat milk
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
6 slices of cheese (cut in halves)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 box of ziti
Cooking spray
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat add milk, flour dijon mustard and garlic; cook until thick, stirring constantly. Add cheese, and salt; stir until cheeses melt.
2. Preheat oven to 375°.
3. Cook pasta in boiling water 5 minutes or until almost tender, omitting salt and fat; drain well. Add pasta to cheese mixture, stirring well. Place in a baking dish that was coated with cooking spray.
4. Bake at 375° for 20 minutes or until heated.

To pair with the Mac and cheese I made baked chicken and substituted the bread crumbs with panko crumbs.

Healthy pancakes

Today’s breakfast: Apple cinnamon pancakes.

1/2 cup white flour
1/2 cup wheat flour
1/2 cup dry oats
1/4 teaspoon of salt
Tablespoon of brown sugar
Tablespoon of baking powder
1/2 apple
1 cup milk
1 egg
2 tablespoon of applesauce
1/3 cup of protein powder
Cinnamon to taste
Mix all ingredient in a bowl until evenly mixed.
Make in a pan/ griddle
Cook each side for 2 minutes at low medium heat
Makes about 8 pancakes 6 inches
* you can store the left over batter in fridge for at most 2 days.

Baked tilapia

Today’s dinner is baked tilapia that I paired with veggies (corn on the cob)

What you will need:

Dijon mustard
1 cup seasoned Panko crumbs
4 Tilapia
1 tbs butter

What you need to do:

Melt butter and add 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard. Mix well. Brush both sides of the room temperature tilapia with the butter mixture. Then dip the tilapia in the panko crumbs covering it on both sides.

Then bake in a preheated oven at 350 degrees F. For 25 mins. Set oven to broil for 5 additional minutes

Serve! Enjoy
